Meet the master craftsman behind Live Edge Wood Gifts, Rich Horrell, an artist whose passion is brought to life with the unwavering support of his partner, Chantal. Rich, a seasoned woodworker with a lifetime of experience, has been immersed in the art of crafting since his youth. For Rich, woodworking isn't just a skill; it's a way of life, and his workshop is his cherished frontier. A true Western spirit, Rich's dedication to creating with wood reflects the rugged resilience of the American West. Not to mention, he once embarked on a 3000-mile hitchhiking journey across the vast expanse of the USA at the age of 20, all to reclaim his displaced love in Montreal, Canada. Fast forward 40 years, and here they both stand, continuing their journey together, creating authentic, Western-inspired live edge wood masterpieces.
Passion for the Old West
Rich's artistic journey began with crafting western towns in his youth. Instead of painting scenes from the old west, he ingeniously brought them to life using reclaimed barnwood. At the age of nineteen, his remarkable art adorned Old Sacramento, only to face the heartbreak of having them all stolen during his time helicopter logging on the California-Oregon border. Despite setbacks, his artistic spirit persisted. Fast forward 25 years, and Rich reignited his creative passion in Logan, Utah. Now, he channels his experiences into crafting unique live edge wood pieces, infusing each creation with the resilience and authenticity forged through years of artistic exploration and renewal.
